What is the 'Happy Burger Campaign?'
'Happy Burger Campaign' is a campaign led by McDonald's to donate hamburgers to those in need of care and love.
In September 2013, McDonald's signed a MOU with the Korea Association of Social Workers and Segye Ilbo. Through this program sponsored by the Ministry of Health and Welfare, McDonald's has donated 800 Bulgogi Burgers and beverages to child welfare institutions in eight major cities across the nation every week, which results in around 40,000 burgers donated.
- McDonald's donated aid to the victims of wildfires in Gangwon and firefighters.
- McDonald's donated 2,000 sets of burgers and beverages to the victims of wildfires and firefighters who were striving to rebuild the affected areas in Gangwon in April 2019. Not only that, but McDonald's also signed a 'Happy Burger Campaign' agreement with the Korea Fire Service in May 2018 providing free Happy Burgers to the bereaved families of those firefighters who had died on the job, firefighters who had been injured on the job, and their families.
- McDonald's gave free Happy Burgers to Yeongjin Comprehensive Social Welfare Center in Busan.
- McDonald's provided 200 Happy Burger sets to the elders or seniors at Yeongjin Comprehensive Social Welfare Center to celebrate Parents' Day on May 8.
The event was prepared to join Busan crew who have been at the forefront of community service for the last eight years. - McDonald's donated Happy Burgers to the Nonsan Training Center.
- On December 28th, 2018, McDonald's donated 1,000 BigMacs and 12,000 apple pies to the recruits who were carrying out the duty of national defense despite the extreme cold. McDonald's has been realizing the true meaning of sharing by donating more than 200,000 burgers to communities and neighbors such as children at community child centers and hospitals, physically challenged students and their parents, public sanitation workers, army trainees, and the bereaved families of firefighters who had died on the job.
